Cold and Flu

Cold and flu are very symptomatically similar conditions and are often confused.

The flu is a viral infection caused by a respiratory virus called influenza. Influenza is a very contagious illness of the upper respiratory system caused by flu-virus (A and B). These viruses attacks the organism through upper respiratory tract or eye mucosa.

Flu symptoms include infection of the lungs and joints. Unlike common cold, flu is a threatening condition because of its possible complications, such as respiratory failure, pneumonia and even death.

Flu treatment is a hard task due to the fast viruses mutations, and there are very few remedies to treat viral infections. Antibiotics are useless for such type of infections treatment and can only aggravate the condition. The flu can be prevented with vaccination.

Common cold causes comprise unfavorable conditions such as excessive fatigue, Allergy or just getting wet during the cold weather.

Cold symptoms are: runny nose, congestion, and sore throat.

Among cold and flu medications you may find Tamiflu (Oseltamivir).
